Loved this and can't wait if with english subtitles can be found, thanks to basic spanish got the drift lol
Makes you wonder what other gems not discovered yet from the old iron curtain countries.
This definitely a good and thoughtful effort.
So watch it even if you don't speak the lingo.

Voyage to the...
Hello everyone. I saw the imported, dubbed, version of this film at the movies in the 1964. It was called Voyage to The End of The Universe. It is primarily about the human drama that arises out of prolonged space flight. The film was remastered several years ago, along with many other classics made in the former USSR, and is available from Ruscico, www,ruscico.com, on DVD. It is quite a good piece of work in its original form containing elements which are the precursor for television shows like "Star Trek" and films like "2001".

A Remarkable Film That Should Be Shared
This film was ahead of its time and highly influential for many more famous films that followed. It is virtually unobtainable in its original version with English subtitles, and like so many other films of this kind, the English language version "Voyage to the End of the Universe" is a rip-off Hollywood hatchet-job. utOPIATEd, The Internet Archive is a great place for orphaned artworks like this: I encourage you to share your collection, so that these remarkable films can be enjoyed by the widest audience possible.

Can anyone explain why this film is in the public domain?
Are films from countries that no longer exist copyright free? I have hundreds of science-fiction and fantasy films from the former USSR/CCCP and Eastern Bloc countries like East Germany, Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia (not sure about Poland as it still exists obviously!) for example.
I would be fascinated to know the status then I can post a version of Icarus XB 1 with English subtitles!
This is an incredible film by the way, one of the great examples of Czech sci-fi cinema during the "communist" era.

Amazing!
This reminds me of Kubrick in so many ways. The film was an intelligent attempt at science fiction, and the production design is ahead of its time.

AKA: Voyage to the End of the Universe
Here in the USA this film use to play on local TV as VOYAGE TO THE END OF THE UNIVERSE. That version was dubbed in English. This is a wide screen version of the movie with it's originial soundtrack. The production design is great.
